Ohio Semitronics, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to join our team in Columbus, OH! We are industry pioneers in developing cutting-edge electrical measurement solutions. With over 60 years of expertise, our high-quality sensors, transducers, and meters accurately measure critical electrical parameters. As our Electrical Engineer I, your role will be to assist the Senior Engineering staff with designs, testing, and researching of products.

Responsibilities

  • Acts on direction from senior engineering staff and contributes to the evaluation of analog and digital designs. Maintains process integrity by performing verification for all products.
  • Expected to build prototypes, which would include soldering electronic components.
  • Researches and recommends materials or design components in support of engineering decisions.
  • Conducts testing required to achieve agency approvals.
  • Ensures exchange of information with other groups or team members as required regarding drafting, production, schematic and printed circuit board design suggestions. Alter bills of material, revise/create production documentation.
  • Works with Engineering team members and other company departments as required to meet project milestones and to accomplish the previously listed duties and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Education and/or Experience- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent major preferred, though demonstrated knowledge and experience in lieu of a bachelor degree is acceptable. Co-op or intern work experience in a manufacturing and engineering environment preferred. Knowledge in voltage, current and power measurement techniques a plus.
  • Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in personal computer skills including communicating effectively via electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing and spreadsheets. Experience in embedded and user-interface software development tools preferred. This role requires an advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly with Excel.
  • Engineering Expertise- Demonstrates the ability to deliver results on technical challenges, display a solid understanding of the theories and practices of electrical engineering.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries from regulatory agencies. Ability to effectively present information to management and public groups. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication, with supervisor, co-workers and staff.
  • Other Qualifications - Due to the contractual and legal requirements (e.g. NAVSEA 5252.227-9100, Protection of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information) that govern a large percentage of the work performed by Ohio Semitronics, Inc. ("OSI"), all applicants will have their U.S. citizenship status verified by the Department of Homeland Security's E-Verify System to determine their legal eligibility to perform duties required of the position for which they applied.
  • Experience in use of test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and other lab equipment, including soldering irons, preferred.

Experience Level

This is an entry level Electrical Engineer position.  Experience in electrical power measurement, transducer and/or meter design and application, or other similar experience is preferred.

Schedule

Normal Office Hours, with flexibility.  Minimal travel.
