Job Description

Requires a thorough understanding of all aspects of operating the drafting group for an Electronic Design department – develop and maintain drawing standards for mechanical and electronic parts and assemblies, select/recommend software packages and updates, stay up to date on applicable industry standards, determine and implement backup requirements for electronic and hard copy designs, etc. Responsible for assignment of jobs within the group as required to meet deadlines. Create finished 3-D models for customers and vendors for part creation or concept evaluation. Provide training and assistance to other members of the department. Oversee the Engineering Change Notice system for the Engineering Department. Strong communication skills are required to be a primary coordinator between company departments - drafting, engineering, manufacturing and inventory control – as new products are developed or existing designs are modified. Accuracy of work and ability to verify the work of others is critical.

Responsibilities

  • Manage work load of the Drafting group
  • Provide the training and oversight required to maintain the integrity of all Drafting group activities
  • Use 3-D modeling to demonstrate / verify design concepts for customers and vendor.
  • Identify / Recommend packaging solutions and solve interference issues using 3-D modeling
  • Oversee printed circuit board design and manufacturing
  • Manage 3D prototyping and tooling for production
  • Manage Engineering Change Notice system for the Engineering department
  • Work with team members and other company groups as required to meet project milestones and provide coordination between departments as designs are implemented

Required Qualifications

  • Fluent in the use of general business application software such as the MS office Suite
  • Knowledge/Ability/People skills required to supervise the day to day operations of a drafting department

Experience Level

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the operation of CAD software packages such as AutoCAD is required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with printed circuit board design software packages such as CADint is required
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience with 3-D Modeling software packages such as CREO

Schedule

Monday through Friday, first shift, 40 hours per week.
