Electrical current is a measure of the amount of electrical charge transferred per unit of time. It represents the flow of electrons through a conductive material.  In alternating current (AC, also ac) the movement (or flow) of electric charge periodically reverses direction. An electric charge would for instance move forward, then backward, then forward, then backward, over and over again. In direct current (DC), the movement (or flow) of electric charge is only in one direction.

OSI current transducer models that no longer appear in the current catalog publication are still available.  These models, including the CT5, 3CT5, ACT5 and CTX, can be ordered by calling one of our Inside Technical Sales Specialists at 1-800-537-6732.  A handful of models were developed for torque measurement applications including:

  • CT1KLTS137
  • CT100LT262
  • CT1KLTSY37
  • CT1KLTSX283
  • CT-1147SB
  • CT-1147SC
  • CT-2182SBX869
  • CT-3477SA
  • CT-2200LT
  • CT-2200LT-1
  • CT-2200LT-2
  • CT-2200LT-3

Any model that contains a "X,Y or Z" suffix indicates that the standard model has been modified to meet a specific customer application.  Please call Inside Technical Sales for availability and pricing for these models.

If you are trying to determine which current transducer is best for your application you might also consider reading "Selecting and Using Transducers for the Measurement of Electric Power, Voltage and Current" which you can download from our Technical Library.
