Consider The Discovery Guide Before Your Next Purchase From Ohio Semitronics

Make sure the right transducer is being purchased for your application by taking advantage of the OSI Product Discovery Guide. The Discovery guide (Fillable Product Dicovery Guide) asks all of the important questions and works to place the correct sensor in to your design or existing application.

Measured parameter. What is the electrical value or values to be quantified? Is it current, voltage, or watt-hours? Maybe it is all three. The Discovery Guide allows you to select all of the choices that are necessary for your specific application.

Measurement Application. What is going to be measured? Is it a motor, generator or a furnace? How about a Heater or a wind turbine? There is space available to describe in detail your specific application if none of the former apply.

AC System Power Source. Specify your system configuration, voltage, and frequency. Is it one phase two wire, line to neutral? Does the application have power electronics between the incoming system and the load?

DC System Power Source. Is there a battery or other DC application notes that should be mentioned?

Current Carrying Conductor Details. If the application involves measuring amperage to indicate Current, Watts, VAR, etc., it is important to obtain the dimensions and insulation level of the systems’ conductor(s). It is beneficial to indicate the type and size of the current conductor. Is it a cable, cable-bundle, or a bus?

Transducer Output. Is the transducer output 0-1mAdc or 0-10Vdc? Here the desired or required display type can be mentioned. There is even an option for indicating the serial output.

Instrument Power. What is the voltage available to power the transducer? Is it self-power? The Self-Power option allows for the instrumentation to be derived from the measurement input. (Clean sine wave only). Self-Power Watt type transducers will have a limited input measuring voltage range.

Accuracy. Describe the required transducer or system accuracy.

Environment. Describe the type of environment where the transducer(s) will be installed. What are the temperatures your application will be exposed to? Describe the mounting space, are there any restrictions?

Agency Approvals. What are the required approvals or markings for your desired measurement unit?

Certification. Would you like N.I.S.T., ISO 17025 and/or an ANSI Z540 certification?
